Lowara e-GS product line boasts proprietary hydraulic design
Xylem is introducing the highly efficient Lowara e-GS borehole pump range, featuring optimized hydraulics and Minimum Efficiency Index (MEI) values exceeding ErP requirements. Specifically designed for use in 4-inch wells, the new e-GS borehole pump range has an innovative ‘floating stack’ hydraulic design that allows sand and abrasives to pass easily, reducing life cycle costs and maintaining one of the best sand-handling capabilities on the market.
The borehole pumps are ideal for a broad range of applications that serve varying water quality levels, such as irrigation systems, domestic and industrial water supply, and geothermal applications.

The Lowara e-GS range will operate in line with the recent efficiency targets set out in the European Union’s ErP Directive. The MEI Index identifies the minimum efficiency levels required for pumps performing under the new hydraulic efficiency levels. Since January 2015, all water pumps are required to be operating with an MEI rating more than or equal to 0.4. Products that do not meet the new requirements are not eligible to carry a CE marking, making it illegal to place them on the open market anywhere within the European Union.
The e-GS range’s floating stack hydraulic design not only ensures minimum maintenance and high performance by allowing sand and abrasives to move easily through the pump, it has several additional benefits, including:
- Rotating components that do not come into contact with each other, resulting in a reduction in wear, extended product life and sustained performance.
- Reliable polymer impeller material that is more resistant to abrasion damage.
- A dual-surface trust washer that prevents rubbing of components during start-up – another product longevity feature.
- Stainless steel parts to provide maximum corrosion resistance.
The new e-GS range can deliver head up to 340 meters, transfer liquid up to 35OC, has a maximum sand capability of 150g/m3 and a maximum immersion depth of 300 meters.
